Fred M. Weber, Jr., Instrumental Team Leader
Fred has been serving in North Carolina since 1998 as Minister of Music at Faith Baptist, Faith, NC 1998 to 2002, Interim Music at Gate City Baptist, Greensboro, NC in 2002 and Minister of Music at First Baptist, Locust, NC 2002 to 2006. He now serves Antioch Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
His association with the Music and Worship Team has been through the North Carolina Baptist Singers and Orchestra since 1998. He has served on the Instrumental Team since 2004 as a team member and chairman. Fred has also served as the Association Music Minister for Rowan Baptist Association 1999-2002 and Stanly Baptist Association 2003 to the present.
Born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma, Fred graduated from Enid High School in 1976. He then pursued a Bachelors Degree from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma with instrumental, vocal and business concentrations ending with a degree in 1982 of a Bachelors of Science. While in his undergraduate program, Fred participated in the choir, percussion ensemble, jazz band, symphonic orchestra and band. He also was a member of the Valiant Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in the years 1971 to 1979 playing the baritone and contra bass bugles where he met his wife, Denise on the 50 yard line.
Fred joined the United States Army in 1985 leading him to Colorado Springs, Colorado and to his call into the ministry in 1990. He served bi-vocationally in churches from 1990 to 1996: 1990 to 1991 at Calvary Baptist, Colorado Springs, CO; 1991 to 1993 at Pleasant Valley Baptist, Colorado Springs, CO. In 1993 he moved to Fort Worth, TX in pursuit of a Masters of Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he graduated in 1997. While at seminary, he served Burton Hill Baptist, Fort Worth, TX, 1993 to 1996 and was in full-time music ministry at First Baptist, Anson Texas, 1996 to 1998.
Married to Denise in 1979, they are the proud parents of one son and two daughters. Gary, age 25 lives in Texas and is a security guard at a prison. Dana, age 22, is married to Shawn Taylor who is a Minister of Music at First Baptist, Tifton, GA. Tina, age 18, lives at home and is attending Stanley Community College in Albemarle, NC.
Fred was ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 1999. It is not unusual to see him actively involved in music, in and out of the church. On his resume his personal statement is, “I am called to minister the ministry of Jesus Christ, with God’s people, spreading the Gospel to all, through music using all of God’s gifts given to me. This ministry plan is not derived from self but is evident of God’s plan and calling in my life. It is affirmed in my life with continuous staff positions since 1990. My objective is to serve God in this capacity and any other which is parallel to the gifts and education provided to me through His will.”
