Sherry Thompson, Music and Worship Team Ministry Assistant Sherry began at the Baptist State Convention in January, 2008. She was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Memphis. She says, “My heart for ministry began in college where I first saw the need for qualified office staff to work behind the scenes to handle the administrative side of ministry.” She has worked in office administration since graduating from college.

She began singing in choirs in seventh grade and has served as either choir secretary or choral music librarian at three churches. She has nine years of experience on staff in a church office, providing administrative support to the Music and Worship Ministry, which included children’s, youth, and adult choirs; handbell choir; orchestra and praise band; and technical support ministries. She has also volunteered as a singer in adult choir, a stage hand and actor, a coordinator of technical ministries and on-stage producer, and as a children’s choir helper during nine musical/drama presentations. She has also worked alongside her husband, Larry, at his graphic design business, assisting in all the office duties plus designing newsletters, brochures, and other printed media for clients.

She enjoys walking along the Raleigh greenway by one of the lakes or hiking on the treadmill when the weather isn’t so nice, exploring new places, and keeping in touch with friends.
