Review: “Laudare” (Latin for “Praise”) is a selection that keeps all ringers actively involved throughout the piece. The few easy accidentals and the range of tempo possibilities allow this piece to serve ringers from beginners through early-intermediate levels. Excellent for practicing balance between the melody line and accompaniment, dynamic control of marts, a range of dynamic levels, and the feel of syncopation, “Laudare” will engage ringers in school, church, concert, and festival settings.

Review: From Joel Raney, here is a dynamite arrangement of this popular Epiphany hymn for bells and optional handchimes, synthesizer and orchestral percussion. The depiction of the three kings journeying to Bethlehem on camelback is skillfully captured as these musical forces join together to paint the familiar text and conjure images of long ago wise men following yonder star. The separate instrumental packet contains a Conductor's Score and parts for: Keyboard/Synth., Percussion 1 & 2.

Review: Truly a unique work, this piece features Robert Lowry's rhythmic hymn tune supported in part by a "singing bell" technique, which uses round sticks rubbed around the outer rim of the bell, for a truly ethereal sound. Full instructions for this technique plus a biography on Robert Lowry and the full lyrics for the hymn are included. Set in F Major, measures total 60.

MASS:
Rock-A-My Soul, arr. Valerie W. Stephenson, Choristers Guild, MCGB612, ©2009, Spiritual, L3, 3, 4, or 5 oct., Mass, Notes: Mallets; Season: All Year; Classification: Spiritual , Church or Concert , All Malleted; Technique: Mallet , Mallet Click; Voicing: Handbells, No Choral; Bells Used: Three Octaves: 34 Bells; Four Octaves: 42 Bells; Five Octaves: 50 Bells MCGB612 $4.50.
Review: If your ringers love to mallet, this all-malleted piece is for you. The spirited chromatic melody and boogie-woogie bass lines will challenge ringers, and the work is also visually enjoyable with the addition of “mallet clicks” in the accompaniment parts. Church and concert hall “souls” will “rock” with delight.
